Safety Guidelines
No person should fence competitively without wearing the full, basic fencing equipment and for their own peace of mind should insist that their opponent wears likewise.
The
minimum requirements for general club fencing are in line with the current requirements of British Fencing, viz:
- For non-electric foil:
- 350N jacket and 350N platron, OR jacket with integral 350N platron, OR 800N jacket;
- Trousers with all openings zipped/stitched or sewn up OR fencing breeches;
- Mask with 350N bib;
- For electric foil and all epee and sabre:
- Jacket CEN1 350 Newton;
- Plastron CEN 2 800 Newton;
- Breeches CEN 1 350 Newton;
- Mask CEN 1 350 Newton bib.
Under no circumstances should you fence in either 't' shirt or shorts.
Ladies must wear a full jacket with protectors
Never point a foil, epee or sabre at anyone who is not wearing a mask and never complete a fencing move without wearing a mask and jacket.
Training jackets are for use when undertaking coaching from a coach/instructor they are not for use during normal fencing bouts.
Acceptable behaviour is required at all times by all club members.
The club reserves the right to discipline those members wno do not comply with this reouirement.
Anyone deliberately fencing in a dangerous and reckless manner will be subject to disciplinary action and could be banned from the club
